Tips

history
Sun Bin lured Pang Juan on by having his camp light fewer cooking fires each day (减灶), so Wei thought the Qi army was deserting. At Maling he stripped a tree and wrote on it "Pang Juan dies under this tree"; when Pang Juan lit a torch to read it, the archers shot.
usage
Where Maling was is disputed: sites in Shandong, Henan and Hebei all claim the battlefield.
