Created in 1960s Philadelphia by breeder Dorothy Hinds-Daugherty, who crossed Siamese with bi-color American Shorthairs. The white feet against dark points gave the breed its name. The famous Grumpy Cat, often likened to a Snowshoe, was actually a mixed-breed cat whose look came from a rare form of dwarfism, not the Snowshoe standard.
