Created in 1960s Philadelphia by breeder Dorothy Hinds-Daugherty, who crossed Siamese with bi-color American Shorthairs. The white feet against dark points gave the breed its name. A photogenic Snowshoe named Grumpy Cat actually had a rare form of dwarfism, not the breed standard.
