Literary/agricultural term — you'll see 陂塘 in classical poetry and in regional descriptions of Hakka and southern farming landscapes. Everyday speech uses 池塘 (chítáng, pond).
mistakes
陂 has multiple readings — bēi (embankment, pond), pí (slope), and pō (uneven). In 陂塘 it is bēi. Don't read it as 'pō táng'.
