Changsha is famous for Yuelu Academy (
岳麓书院, one of the Four Great Academies of ancient China), the Mawangdui Han tombs (
马王堆汉墓) whose preserved corpse and silk manuscripts reshaped scholarship, and as Mao Zedong's early home and political base. Today it is a major hub for television and entertainment (Hunan TV) and famed for stinky tofu (
臭豆腐) and
口味虾 spicy crayfish.
