Enacted 2003, effective 2004, abbreviated 道交法. It replaced a 1988 regulation and introduced the 12-point annual driving-license system, strict drunk-driving rules, and the 'pedestrian gets the benefit of the doubt' principle in vehicle-pedestrian accidents. The 2011 amendment introduced 醉驾入刑 - making drunk driving a criminal offense.
