Almost always seen as 后羿 (Hou Yi), the archer-hero who shot down nine scorching suns and whose wife 嫦娥 fled to the moon. A separate Xia-dynasty ruler of the You-qiong clan also bore this name; both belong to early legend, not the standalone vocabulary a learner uses in speech.
