Tips

history
From Bai Juyi's (白居易, Tang dynasty) 《十九》: 绿火炉? — 'New wine with green froth on top, a small stove of red clay; snow is coming this evening — can you stay for a cup?' One of the most beloved invitation poems in Chinese literature, a 20-character message asking a friend over for a drink.
usage
Usually quoted with its companion line 绿 ('green ants on new-brewed wine' — 绿 is the greenish foam on unfiltered rice wine). The two lines together evoke warm, intimate hospitality on a snowy night.
