白沙 ('white sand') is one of the most common toponyms in the Chinese-speaking world. The best-known are Baisha Li Autonomous County in Hainan, Baisha Ancient Town near Lijiang in Yunnan (a UNESCO heritage site famous for its Naxi murals), and Baisha Township in the Penghu Islands of Taiwan.
