Full name 总理各国事务衙门 (Zǒnglǐ Gèguó Shìwù Yámen, 'Office for the General Management of Affairs Concerning All Foreign Countries'). Set up after the Second Opium War in 1861, it was China's first dedicated foreign-affairs body and a flagship of the 自强运动 (Zìqiáng Yùndòng, Self-Strengthening Movement). Replaced in 1901 by the modern 外务部 (Wàiwù Bù, Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
