Two famous Pinkertons: (1) Allan Pinkerton, the Scottish-American detective who founded the agency that foiled an 1861 plot against Lincoln and later busted strikes for the Gilded-Age railroads; (2) Lieutenant B. F. Pinkerton, the callous American officer who abandons Cio-Cio-san in Puccini's opera 《蝴蝶夫人》 (Madama Butterfly). Subtitle-corpus hits usually point to one of those two.
