塔纳摩 is the tail of
关塔纳摩 (Guantánamo), the bay and city in eastern Cuba where the U.S. has held a naval base since 1903. The detention facility there opened in 2002 and has been an enduring fixture of post-9/11 news. CC-CEDICT also lists the variant
关塔那摩 (with
那 instead of
纳) — both are accepted; mainland press tends to use
关塔那摩.
