history

Historically known as Luling (庐陵), birthplace of Song poet-statesman Ouyang Xiu (欧阳修) and Southern Song martyr Wen Tianxiang (文天祥). In modern history, the Jinggang Mountains (井冈山) within Ji'an's prefecture were where Mao established the first Chinese Communist rural base in 1927.
