Tips

history
Introduced in 1994: some taxes go to the central government, some to local governments, and some, such as VAT, are shared between them. Until 2018 the two kinds were collected by separate bureaus, 国税局 and 地税局; the bureaus then merged, but the revenue split itself continues.
