六安市

The 六 in 六安 is pronounced lù, NOT liù. This preserves an archaic reading from the Han dynasty 六安国. In 2016 CCTV news anchors briefly switched to 'liù'an' per dictionary reform, causing public backlash; officials restored lù as the accepted local pronunciation. Treat this as a named-exception just like 铅山 (Yánshān, not qiān).

六安 is best known for 六安瓜片 — one of China's Ten Famous Teas, a flat single-leaf green tea shaped like a melon seed. It's the only Chinese tea produced from a single leaf without bud or stem. The city is also the hometown of Zhou dynasty philosopher 皋陶 (Gao Yao), the legendary ancestor of Chinese jurisprudence.
