Tips

history
Often cited as a variant or paraphrase of Mao Zedong's 毛泽东 1957 poem 《蝶恋花·答李淑一》 and similar revolutionary lyrics in which 今朝 ('this dawn / today') marks the present revolutionary era surpassing the past. The phrase also appears in popular song lyrics and Spring Festival couplets, where 今朝 carries the same 'our bright present' resonance.
usage
今朝 is classical/literary for 'today' (cf. 今朝有酒今朝醉). Does NOT mean 'this morning' despite often meaning 'morning' - here = 'day/era'.
