Tips

history
The Goryeo dynasty (高丽, 918-1392) is the source of the English word 'Korea'. Founded by Wang Geon (王建), it unified the peninsula after the fall of the Three Kingdoms. The era is famous for Goryeo celadon (高丽青瓷) and the Tripitaka Koreana (高丽大藏经). 高丽 is still poetically used for Korea - e.g. 高丽参 ('Korean ginseng').
