usage

露出 is often used with facial expressions or emotions: 露出笑容 (show a smile), 露出马脚 (give oneself away). Compare with 显露 which is more formal.

mistakes

露 has two readings: lù (to reveal/expose) and lòu (colloquial, to leak out). In 露出 the standard reading is lùchū.
