usage
险峻 most commonly describes physical terrain - sheer cliffs, narrow mountain passes - and by extension, dangerous-and-imposing situations. Compare 陡峭 (dǒuqiào, 'steep') which is just about angle, while 险峻 adds the sense of menace or risk.
