Kenya has Moi University, named after the former president.
Tips
history
Most often refers to Daniel Toroitich arap Moi (1924-2020, 丹尼尔·阿拉普·莫伊), Kenya's second president, who held office for 24 years (1978-2002) under one-party rule. Moi University in Eldoret and Nairobi's Moi Avenue are named after him. The same Chinese rendering also covers other African and French-derived 'Moi' names.
usage
Two-syllable transliteration: 莫 (mò, 'do not') for the 'Mo-' onset and 伊 (yī, 'he/she — literary pronoun') for the '-i' ending. Both characters keep their literal meanings in normal Chinese but are used purely for sound in this name.
