美团单车 is the rebrand of Mobike (
摩拜), which was acquired by Meituan in 2018 for ~$2.7B and rebranded in 2020. With
哈啰 (Hello) and
青桔 (Qingju, owned by Didi), it's one of the three big bike-share networks that survived the late-2010s shakeout when over a dozen startups went bankrupt and left mountains of bikes (
共享单车坟场, shared-bike graveyards) in Chinese cities.
