Gamal Abdel Nasser (1918–1970), Egypt's second president and the towering figure of mid-20th-century Arab politics. His 1956 nationalization of the Suez Canal triggered the Suez Crisis, humiliated Britain and France, and made him a hero across the Arab world. The name is also borne by the Qatari football club's owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi (PSG) and many others.
