玉林 summer festival), parts of Guizhou, and the Korean-ethnic areas of Jilin. Most urban Chinese today — especially younger, pet-owning generations — view it as taboo, and animal-rights campaigns have made it a live political topic. Use descriptively, not as a recommendation; avoid casually in mixed company.
