晒秋 ('sun-drying autumn') is an autumn tradition in Jiangxi's Wuyuan villages — farmers spread red chilies, yellow corn, and orange persimmons on round bamboo trays across their blackened tile roofs. The patchwork of color against dark roof tiles has become one of China's most-photographed countryside scenes.
