旧物 carries a slightly literary, sentimental tone — old objects with personal or historical weight, not mere junk. For everyday clutter use 旧东西 (jiù dōngxi). In classical/political prose 旧物 can also mean 'former territory' (e.g. recovering 旧物 = reclaiming lost lands).
