From J.R.R. Tolkien's
魔戒 (Mójiè, 'The Lord of the Rings') /
霍比特人 (Huòbǐtèrén, 'The Hobbit'). Moria is the ancient Dwarven city Khazad-dûm beneath the Misty Mountains — abandoned after the Dwarves dug too greedily and awoke a Balrog (
炎魔 Yánmó). The Sindarin name means 'Black Pit.'
