布巴

布巴 (Bubba) is most famously the shrimp-obsessed best friend of Forrest Gump in the 1994 film 《阿甘正传》 — played by Mykelti Williamson. After the film, the name spawned the real-world restaurant chain 巴布甘虾 / Bubba Gump Shrimp. 'Bubba' itself is a Southern U.S. nickname derived from 'brother', often given to a friendly, easygoing man.

布 (bù, 'cloth' / phonetic 'Bu') + 巴 (bā, 'to hope for' / phonetic 'ba'). Repeating syllables (Bu-ba) is a classic transliteration cue for English nicknames with reduplication: cf. 嘟嘟 Dudu, 卡卡 Kaka.
