In CCP political vocabulary,
左倾 has a specific pejorative meaning: 'ultra-leftist / adventurist' deviation, as in
左倾错误 (the leftist mistakes of the early 1930s and the Cultural Revolution). The mirror term
右倾 (rightist) is equally pejorative. Outside CCP discourse,
左倾 means simply 'left-leaning' in the Western political sense.
