Chengdu Institute of Care-Life (成都高新减灾研究所) built the 大陆地震预警网, which uses seismic P-wave detection to push seconds-to-tens-of-seconds warnings to smartphones before shaking reaches a location. Widely deployed after the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake.
