Dialectal/colloquial, somewhat dated. Mainstream equivalents are 发火 (fāhuǒ), 发脾气 (fā píqi), or 急眼 (jíyǎn).

Literally 'send-throat-urgent' — picture the anger rising up the throat (喉 hóu) until it bursts out. The throat-as-anger imagery survives in English too: 'a lump in the throat', 'choked with rage'.
