Almost any reference to 元甲 in modern Chinese is a stand-alone reference to Huò Yuánjiǎ (霍元甲) — the Tianjin-born martial artist who beat foreign strongmen in early 1900s Shanghai and became a national symbol of Chinese pride. Subject of Jet Li's 2006 film Fearless and the 2001 TV series.

In classical Chinese 元甲 also literally means 'first rank in the imperial palace examination' (一甲, top three ranks), but that usage is rare in modern speech — modern hits are almost all the historical figure.
