Read aloud as 'K-P-I' (English letters). Standard corporate jargon in Chinese white-collar workplaces — far more common than the Chinese translation 关键绩效指标 (guānjiàn jìxiào zhǐbiāo), which feels textbook. Compare 'Hit your KPI' with 完成KPI / 达成KPI.

KPI vs OKR is an active debate in Chinese tech — Alibaba and big banks lean KPI; ByteDance, Xiaomi, and most newer tech companies have shifted to OKR (since the 2010s). Both terms are used in English even in Chinese speech.
