Founded the phone and electronics maker 小米 (Xiaomi) in 2010 and still leads it; it began selling electric cars in 2024. His English 'Are you OK?' at a 2015 launch in India became a famous online remix.
His best-known saying is 站在风口上，猪都能飞起来, 'stand where the wind blows and even a pig can fly', and people now use 风口 for a hot new industry. He says it was misread as opportunism: he meant that success takes ten thousand hours of practice.
