From 《孟子·》 (Mencius 3B.2): 富贵不能不能不能丈夫 — 'Riches and rank cannot corrupt him; poverty and meanness cannot move him; force and power cannot bend him — this is what is called a great man.' Mencius's most famous definition of moral manhood, still quoted in Chinese politics and education.
