Former provincial capital of Anhui (until 1952, when it moved to Hefei). The second character of 安徽 itself comes from "安庆" + "徽州". Anqing is the home of Huangmei opera (黄梅戏) and Peking opera ancestor Cheng Changgeng, and birthplace of writer Chen Duxiu (陈独秀), co-founder of the CCP.
