余杭

余杭 contains the 良渚古城 ruins — a 5,300-year-old Neolithic walled city inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List in 2019. Liangzhu's jade 琮 (cong) and 璧 (bi) pieces pushed the accepted start of Chinese civilization back by over a thousand years and gave the phrase 中华五千年 ('five thousand years of China') its archaeological backbone.

Modern 余杭 is also where Alibaba is headquartered (Xixi campus), making it one of China's wealthiest urban districts per capita and a hub for tech workers commuting between Hangzhou's city center and the Liangzhu lifestyle neighborhoods.
