Japanese electronics maker founded 1947 by Iue Toshio (松下幸之助's brother-in-law). The name means 'three oceans' (Pacific/Atlantic/Indian) — a vow to sell worldwide. Panasonic absorbed Sanyo in 2011, but the brand persisted for years on AQUA-branded white goods in China.
