Formal and slightly literary — used in historical, military, and political contexts. Compare
领土 (lǐngtǔ, 'territory') which is the modern legal/diplomatic term, and
国土 (guótǔ, 'national land') which is more general.
疆土 carries a stronger sense of 'borders that have been won and must be defended.'
