Tips

history
His courtesy name 精卫 references 精卫填海 - the mythic bird that tries to fill the sea with pebbles. In 1910, the young Wang was jailed for an assassination attempt on the Qing prince regent and became a revolutionary hero. His name is now shorthand in Chinese for 汉奸 (traitor) after he led the Japanese puppet regime during WWII.
