梅铎

梅铎 is the Taiwanese / Hong Kong rendering of the surname Murdoch — Mainland press generally uses 默多克 (Mòduōkè). Almost always refers to Rupert Murdoch (b. 1931), the founder of News Corp / Fox News and former owner of The Times, The Sun, The Wall Street Journal, and 21st Century Fox. Also the Irish-British novelist Iris Murdoch (艾瑞斯·梅铎, 1919–1999).

梅 méi ('Mer-') + 铎 duó ('-doch'). 铎 is an ancient bronze bell used to issue commands — a rare character that appears mostly in classical contexts and transliterations.
