Tips

history
张超 (1986-2016) was a Chinese naval aviator who died ejecting too late from a malfunctioning J-15 carrier fighter on 27 April 2016, reportedly trying to save the aircraft rather than bail out. Posthumously named 'Hero Pilot of the Sea and Sky' (逐梦海天的强军先锋), he became a symbol in PLA propaganda about naval aviation's rapid - and dangerous - growth.
