坐位 and
座位 (zuòwèi) mean the same thing and sound identical, but in modern standard Chinese
座位 is the preferred written form.
坐 is the verb 'to sit';
座 is the noun 'seat / pedestal'. If you're writing for school or formal contexts, default to
座位;
坐位 still appears widely on signs and in informal text.
