The State Planning Commission (
国家计划委员会, often abbreviated
国家计委 or
计委) was established in 1952 as the central organ of PRC command-economy planning, modeled on the Soviet Gosplan. It drafted every Five-Year Plan from the First (1953-1957) onward. Reorganized in 1998 into
国家发展计划委员会, then in 2003 merged into the current National Development and Reform Commission (
国家发改委 / NDRC).
