Tips

usage

停放 is more formal than 停 alone. Signs and regulations use 停放 (禁止停放, 'no parking'), while in conversation you'd just say 把车停这儿 ('park here'). 停放 also works for shared bikes, scooters — anything you 'leave placed' somewhere.
