Wangcheng is the site of the Tang-dynasty
铜官窑 (Tongguan Kiln), one of the earliest Chinese kilns to mass-produce underglaze-painted porcelain for export. Shards from Tongguan have been found on the Belitung shipwreck (c. 830 CE), proving the kiln fed a maritime Silk Road to the Abbasid world.
