布吉纳法索 is the Taiwan transliteration. Mainland China uses 布基纳法索 (Bùjīnà Fǎsuǒ) — note 吉 (jí) vs 基 (jī). Both refer to the same country.
history
The country was renamed from Upper Volta (上沃尔特) to Burkina Faso in 1984 by revolutionary leader Thomas Sankara. The name means 'Land of Upright People' in Mossi and Dyula.
