位 (wèi) here means 'bit' — a binary digit. Same measure word is used in 八位字节 (bā wèi zìjié, byte = 8 bits) and 64位 (sixty-four-bit). Do not confuse with 位 as 'seat / position' (座位) or polite measure word (一位客人).
